Job Description
The Structural Engineer will design and evaluate structures that must withstand stresses and pressures from human use and environmental conditions. This role involves structural configuration, foundation and material selection, oversight of drawing production, and ensuring the structural integrity of buildings, foundations, and related structures. The position is hybrid with flexible hours, offering a balance of in-office collaboration and remote work.
Structural Design & Analysis
• Design and configure structural systems for commercial and industrial projects (no residential; no steel manufacturers).
• Perform calculations related to loads, pressures, stresses, and material behavior.
• Select appropriate foundation systems, structural materials, and equipment support components.
• Use structural engineering software (e.g., STAAD, RISA) and CAD tools (AutoCAD, Revit) for modeling and simulation.
Documentation & Reporting
• Prepare engineering reports, design criteria, cost estimates, and technical specifications.
• Produce and review structural drawings and documentation.
• Ensure all designs comply with applicable building codes and regulations.
Project Oversight & Coordination
• Monitor and inspect contractor work to verify structural soundness and adherence to design.
• Administer small subcontracts and manage structural project tasks.
• Liaise with clients, architects, engineers, and other professional staff throughout project phases.
• Obtain necessary planning and building regulation approvals.
Site & Geotechnical Evaluation
• Inspect geotechnical conditions and evaluate soil and foundation requirements.
• Conduct site visits to assess construction progress and resolve structural issues.

Required Skills & Experience
- Strong experience in structural engineering
o Steel and concrete foundation design, etc.
- Experience from an engineering consulting firm
- Experience with design software like STAAD, AutoCAD, Revit, or RISA
- FE exam passed/EIT – PE license HIGHLY preferred
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Heavy industrial experience
- Any experience with big equipment, vibration, rotating parts, etc.
- Experience with power generation
