Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Staff or Senior Structural Designer to support large-scale Gas & Heavy Industrial (GHI) and power generation projects across the United States. This role will serve as a project-level lead designer, responsible for hands-on 3D structural modeling as well as coordination, quality control, and technical oversight of domestic and international design resources. The ideal candidate brings strong 3D structural design experience, a deep understanding of industrial structures, and the ability to work effectively in a BIM-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities
Project & Technical Leadership
Serve as the lead structural designer on assigned GHI projects, typically one major project at a time
Model complex foundations and steel structures for power plants and heavy industrial facilities
Provide technical direction and oversight to:
U.S.-based designers
Offshore design teams (e.g., Mumbai-based resources)
Coordinate work sequencing and priorities across distributed teams

3D Modeling & Design
Develop detailed 3D structural models including:
Equipment foundations
Pipe racks
Industrial buildings
Structural steel framing
Create 2D deliverables from 3D models, including:
Structural plans, sections, and elevations
Foundation and rebar drawings
Steel framing and connection details

Quality Control & BIM Oversight
Perform comprehensive QA/QC reviews of models and drawings
Ensure models comply with internal standards and project specifications
Run and review model reports (attributes, structure names, design areas, construction work areas, etc.)
Verify BIM data integrity and consistency across deliverables

Collaboration & Communication
Work closely with engineers, project managers, and other disciplines
Mentor and support junior and mid-level designers
Provide input on constructability and fabrication considerations
Support project execution from early design through construction documentation

Required Skills & Experience

8 years of experience within structural design
3D drafting design software experience in either Tekla, AutoCAD or Revit

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Tekla experience huge plus
BIM or VDC background
Working experience in GHI industry (gas, heavy industrial)
