Job Description
The Remanufacturing Technician is responsible for inspecting, disassembling, repairing, and reassembling locomotive motors and compressors to restore them to operational condition. This role involves mechanical troubleshooting, precision work, and adherence to safety and quality standards in a remanufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Disassembly & Inspection:
Safely disassemble motors and compressors using appropriate tools and techniques.
Inspect components for wear, damage, or defects using visual and measurement tools.
Document findings and determine parts requiring replacement or refurbishment.
Repair & Remanufacturing:
Clean, repair, or replace defective parts including bearings, seals, rotors, stators, valves, and other mechanical components.
Rebuild motors and compressors to meet OEM specifications or customer requirements.
Perform precision machining, balancing, and alignment as needed.
Testing & Quality Assurance:
Conduct functional and performance tests on remanufactured units.
Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
Maintain accurate records of work performed and test results.
Maintenance & Safety:
Maintain tools, equipment, and work area in clean and safe condition.
Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate PPE.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and training.

Required Skills & Experience
High school diploma or equivalent
1–3 years of experience in mechanical or electrical maintenance, preferably in remanufacturing or industrial settings
Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
Comfortable working in heavy industrial environments (labs, manufacturing floors, large vehicles)
Strong attention to detail and documentation skills
Basic computer literacy (email, documentation systems)
