Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive HSE Specialist to support construction operations by ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards. The successful candidate will bring practical experience in asbestos abatement, safe handling and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous materials, working at heights, and operating Powered Industrial Vehicles (PIVs), including mobile cranes. This position is essential for maintaining a safe work environment and fostering a strong safety culture across all project sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific HSE programs and procedures.
- Perform risk assessments and job hazard analyses for construction activities.
- Coordinate and oversee asbestos abatement projects in compliance with federal and state requirements.
- Manage proper handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous and non-hazardous waste.
- Ensure compliance with safety measures for working at heights, including fall protection systems and training.
- Inspect and confirm safe operation of Powered Industrial Vehicles such as forklifts, aerial lifts, and mobile cranes.
- Conduct routine site inspections and audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.
- Lead investigations of incidents and perform root cause analyses; maintain accurate documentation and reports.
- Deliver HSE training sessions and toolbox talks to site personnel.
- Serve as liaison with regulatory agencies and ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and other applicable standards.
- Support emergency preparedness, including planning and conducting drills.

Required Skills & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Science, or related field (preferred).
· Minimum of 5 years of HSE experience in construction or industrial environments.
· Certifications in asbestos abatement (e.g., AHERA), HAZWOPER (40-hour), and fall protection.
Experience with PIVs and mobile crane safety standards (e.g., OSHA 1926 Subpart CC).
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• CSP, CHST, or CIH certification.
• Experience with environmental permitting and sustainability initiatives.
• Familiarity with digital safety platforms and mobile inspection tools.
