Strong understanding of clinical / healthcare data to understand how to extract the data
Mainframe / Cobol environment
Comfortable working independently
Comfortable working with 10-20 millions of rows of claims and billions of records coming from different sources
Responsible for structuring the data after extraction

5+ years of experience as an analyst-programmer performing various system development lifecycle functions
5+ years of SAS coding experience
5+ years of experience using SAS for data extraction from large volume databases, developing and maintaining production reports
Strong understanding of technical nuances of different database structures, tables, and joins
Data warehousing environment experience, preferably on the front-end
Experience with paid and denied claims (diagnosis codes, procedure codes, etc.) and data standards (Protected Health Information, privacy standards, HIPAA data elements, and code sets.)
Experience with Medicaid, Social Security Administration (SSA), or other welfare programs specific to state and federal policies and procedures.
