Job Description
Our client is seeking a Product Owner to support its Enterprise Data Platform organization. This individual will serve as the Product Owner for a dedicated Agile scrum team and partner closely with Product Managers, Engineering Managers, Architects, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, high-quality data products that drive business outcomes across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate combines strong Agile product ownership experience with a demonstrated background supporting enterprise data platforms, data governance initiatives, data quality programs, and modern cloud-based data ecosystems such as Databricks. This role requires someone who can bridge business objectives and technical execution while helping teams deliver trusted, accessible, and well-governed data assets.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the Product Owner for a dedicated Agile scrum team (typically 10-14 engineers)
- Partner daily with Product Managers, Data Engineers, Engineering Managers, Architects, and Scrum Masters to drive delivery priorities
- Translate business needs into actionable product requirements, features, user stories, and acceptance criteria
- Own and maintain a prioritized product backlog aligned to strategic data platform roadmaps
- Lead backlog refinement, sprint - , prioritization, and release planning activities
- Help define and deliver enterprise data products that support analytics, reporting, operational processes, and business decision-making
- Drive initiatives focused on data governance, data quality, metadata management, and data accessibility
- Collaborate with technical teams to support scalable data ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption solutions
- Identify dependencies, risks, and blockers while facilitating resolution across teams
- Act as the liaison between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams, ensuring alignment on priorities and outcomes
- Support the adoption of modern data platform capabilities and best practices
- Partner with stakeholders to define success metrics and measure business value delivered by data products

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager, or similar Agile delivery role
- Experience supporting highly technical engineering teams in an Agile environment
- Proven experience owning or supporting enterprise data platforms, data products, or data-centric initiatives
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle concepts, including ingestion, transformation, storage, governance, and consumption
- Experience partnering closely with Engineering Managers, Architects, Data Engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to gather requirements, prioritize work, and successfully drive delivery outcomes
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and facilitation skills
- Experience creating and managing user stories, acceptance criteria, roadmaps, and backlogs
- Ability to effectively communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Strong organizational skills and experience managing competing priorities
- Ability to quickly understand complex business processes and technical ecosystems
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience working with modern cloud data platforms (Databricks preferred)
- Experience with enterprise data governance initiatives and frameworks
- Experience driving data quality, data stewardship, metadata management, or data catalog programs
- Familiarity with data engineering concepts, ETL/ELT pipelines, data warehousing, and analytics platforms
- Financial Services industry experience
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise data modernization efforts
- Exposure to API integrations and data services
- Experience partnering with distributed engineering teams
- Local to Minneapolis, MN preferred
