Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior Bridge Design Engineer to support and lead bridge and structural engineering efforts for transportation projects, with a strong emphasis on work for MnDOT. This role is responsible for delivering high‑quality engineering solutions across the full project lifecycle, including analysis, design, documentation, and construction support. The engineer will perform structural calculations, modeling, analysis, and design; prepare contract documents such as plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates; and manage multi‑disciplinary projects from the proposal phase through design and construction support, including reviewing shop drawings and responding to RFIs. Additional responsibilities include developing and reviewing engineering reports and technical studies, conducting engineering research, providing technical assistance to consultants, contractors, municipalities, and public officials, delivering professional presentations, participating in client and project meetings, and performing quality control reviews of calculations and contract documents. The position emphasizes technical leadership, collaboration with public stakeholders, and staying current with evolving industry standards while integrating innovation and technology into design practices.

Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university
- Progressive experience in Bridge / Structural Engineering, including direct work with MnDOT
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Minnesota with 4–10 years of experience, or ability to obtain MN PE within 6 months
- Proficiency with structural analysis software such as Midas Civil
- Familiarity with Bentley OpenBridge, AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, and MDX
- Proficiency in structural detailing using MicroStation and AutoCAD
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
- Experience leading or mentoring junior engineers
- Strong client‑facing skills and comfort presenting technical concepts to non‑technical audiences
- Experience incorporating emerging technologies or innovative design approaches into bridge projects
-Prior experience supporting projects beyond bridges, such as retaining walls or other transportation‑related structures
