Job Description

Optum is seeking an experienced Epic Refuel Project Manager to lead and support enterprise healthcare technology initiatives focused on Epic Cadence, Epic Patient Access, Epic Grand Central and Epic MyChart. This individual will partner with operational leaders, Epic application teams, and external vendors to drive project execution, support system enhancements, and improve patient access and scheduling workflows across health system clients.
The ideal candidate combines strong healthcare IT project management experience with a deep understanding of Epic patient access, scheduling, registration, and inpatient flow workflows. This role will oversee a small portfolio of 1-2 concurrent projects while ensuring timelines, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations are effectively managed.

Lead planning and execution of Epic-focused initiatives involving Cadence, Patient Access, and Grand Central
Partner with operational leaders, Epic analysts, IT teams, and vendors to deliver project objectives
Develop and maintain project plans, milestones, risks, and status reporting
Track project progress and proactively escalate issues, roadblocks, and resource constraints
Coordinate cross-functional teams including Epic application teams, technical resources, integrations, and operational stakeholders
Facilitate project meetings, governance reviews, and executive status updates
Manage dependencies across scheduling, registration, patient flow, and hospital operations workstreams
Support implementation of Epic enhancements, upgrades, optimizations, and workflow improvements
Ensure projects align with business goals, operational priorities, and organizational standards
Drive stakeholder communication, issue resolution, and adoption planning throughout project lifecycles
Support resource planning, budgeting discussions, and project forecasting activities

Required Skills & Experience

5+ years of IT Project Management experience
3+ years managing healthcare technology or Epic-related projects
3+ years supporting projects within a hospital, health system, payer, or healthcare environment
Experience working with one or more of the following Epic applications:
Epic Cadence
Epic Patient Access
Epic Grand Central
Epic MyChart
Experience with ServiceNow
Experience coordinating cross-functional healthcare and technical teams
Strong project planning, risk management, and stakeholder communication skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

PMP Certification
Epic certification or prior experience supporting Epic implementations, upgrades, or optimization efforts
Experience with ServiceNow, Jira, Smartsheet, or similar project management tools
Understanding of patient scheduling, registration, admissions, and patient flow processes
Experience supporting large health system clients
Strong executive-level communication and presentation skills
AI-first mindset
