Principal Embedded Cybersecurity Systems Engineer

As a Principal Embedded Cybersecurity Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and securing embedded software for regulated medical devices, MDDS systems, and supporting mobile applications. This role is hands-on and highly technical, with accountability across the full product lifecycle—from requirements and architecture through development, verification, release, and post-market support. You will integrate cybersecurity best practices into real-time embedded systems, perform threat modeling and vulnerability mitigation, and ensure compliance with FDA, ISO, UL, and IEC standards. Working closely with cross‑functional teams across Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, and Operations, you will help translate product requirements into technical specifications, contribute to project planning and execution, conduct code and design reviews, and generate test procedures to validate performance and security requirements. As a senior technical leader, you will also mentor engineers on embedded cybersecurity concepts, support audits and change control processes, and help enforce company policies, quality systems, and secure development practices.

-10+ years (or equivalent) experience in embedded software development and/or product design within a regulated industry, including medical device environments (FDA, ISO).
-Strong hands-on experience with C or C++ in embedded systems, including development on ARM-based processors (Cortex M0, M4, A-series).
-Demonstrated expertise in embedded cybersecurity, including secure boot, cryptography, PKI, firmware security, threat modeling, and vulnerability mitigation.
-Experience working with RTOS environments (e.g., VxWorks, ThreadX, FreeRTOS) and common hardware interfaces such as USB, UART, I2C, and SPI.
-Proven ability to work within GMP-certified manufacturing processes and comply with relevant UL and IEC standards while collaborating across cross-functional teams.
