Job Description

The Research & Development (R&D) organization is seeking a motivated Electrical Engineer to support a 6‑month project focused on the testing, debugging, documentation, and validation of electrical test systems used for design verification of regulated devices.
This role will support test systems where the PCB design is complete and entering the test and debug phase, requiring hands‑on electrical troubleshooting, extensive documentation, and close coordination with technicians and cross‑functional teams. The Electrical Engineer will lead system debug efforts, ensure accurate documentation and BOMs, manage technician activities, and support compliant validation of test systems and methods.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead testing, debugging, and validation of completed PCB‑based electrical test systems used for design verification.
- Develop, maintain, and control comprehensive test system documentation, including system requirements, electrical layouts, assembly instructions, technical guides, and “how‑to” build manuals.
- Create and maintain electrical system layouts, drawings, and technical documentation within Windchill or similar PLM/document control systems.
- Ensure bills of material (BOMs) are accurate, complete, and aligned with validated system configurations.
- Oversee and coordinate technicians performing system assembly, debug activities, and Gage R&R studies, including managing workflows and resolving technical issues.
- Support and manage statistical studies (e.g., Gage R&R) in collaboration with technicians and quality partners.
- Troubleshoot electrical systems using standard lab equipment, including digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
- Collaborate with a separate software team responsible for test system software updates (e.g., MATLAB to LabVIEW), supporting hardware/software integration and troubleshooting as needed.
- Develop, update, and validate test methods and calibration procedures in compliance with internal quality procedures and SOPs.
- Procure equipment and materials and coordinate shipment of test systems and supporting equipment across multiple global sites.
- Communicate technical progress, risks, and tradeoffs to project leadership and recommend mitigation actions as needed.
- Support specification, assembly, debugging, and validation of automated and semi‑automated test equipment and processes.
