Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a System Test Engineer to work for a DoD customer based out of Warren, MI. This team is responsible for developing autonomous software for robotic combat vehicles. The System Test Engineer will be responsible for developing test specifications to verify software requirements for an autonomous system. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in vehicle controls, sensors, and general knowledge of autonomous systems. This role will require a secret clearance and Insight Global will process the ideal candidate for an interim clearance! This is a hybrid position in Harrison Twp, MI.


What you will be doing:
Act as testing lead for the autonomous system implemented in ROS (robotic operating system)
Own the V&V (Verification and Validation) workflow for the product line
Develop test specifications to verify software requirements
Work with other System Engineer that writes requirements
Youll be responsible for creating test cases based off those requirements
Create and maintain test cases
Work with developers to ensure test cases make sense
Willingness to develop and run tests using software, simulation and/or vehicle to collect data for ROS based autonomous ground vehicle systems
There are verification engineers that are solely responsible for testing, youll need to work with them to gather/implement feedback
Assist requirements engineer and architect with decomposition of complex software system
Willingness to learn and implement MBSE practices have test cases be part of MBSE models

Pay range for this role is $40-65/hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineer, related engineering or applied science field
At least 5 years of experience implementing system engineering best practices with a focus on V&V
Basic knowledge of vehicle controls, sensors, autonomous systems and functional safety
Be able to understand how vehicles work
Sensors: what is a sensor/what does it do?
Vision, lidar, radar, ultrasonic, touch sensors
General knowledge of Atlassian tool suite

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Experience with MBSE, model-based development using SysML, UML tools
Tools: Cameo, MagicDraw, etc.
Experience in Robotics, autonomous systems
Experience with understanding of perception, behavior, planning and motion control of a robotic system
