Job Description / D2D Responsibilities
This team supports engine development, pallet build, and downstream validation testing.
Engine Development Group
The Development group is responsible for hands-on engine build, calibration support, and early-stage testing, bringing engines to approximately 65% calibration before handoff to Validation.
Daily Responsibilities:
• Tear down engines and reassemble using different hardware configurations
• Perform all work using hand tools
• Support engine calibration alongside engineers
• Stainless steel and aluminum fabrication work
• Emissions-related work, including:
○ Emissions testing
○ Microfilters
○ Analyzing exhaust streams
• Learn and work with client's in-house technology
• Support certification testing:
○ SAE J1349
○ SAE J1995
• Vehicle tuning
• Dyno testing
• Run development-level testing including:
○ GETC – Global Engine Thermal Cycle
○ GED – Global Engine Durability
○ GDTS – Global Deep Thermal Shock
Handoff Point:
• Engines are developed and calibrated to ~65% before being sent to the Validation group for more targeted and higher-level testing
Validation Group
The Validation group works with engines and pallets that are already at a higher level of calibration, focusing on specific, defined test protocols rather than development and build work.
Daily Responsibilities:
• Receive engine pallets from the Development team at ~65% calibration
• Execute defined validation test plans
• Run specific validation testing, including:
○ GETC – Global Engine Thermal Cycle
○ GED – Global Engine Durability
○ GDTS – Global Deep Thermal Shock
• Focus on repeatable, specification-driven testing rather than calibration or build work
• Prepare engines and pallets for downstream analysis and approval
Pallet Build Group
The Pallet Build team supports both Development and Validation by assembling/tearing down and preparing engine testing pallets.
Daily Responsibilities:
• Hands-on technician role
• Fabrication and welding
• Assemble engine parts from PPO onto testing pallets
• Hook up all sensors and components
• Prepare pallets for Validation team testing
• Teardown pallets after all testing has been completed
Compensation:
$25/hr to $30/hr.
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience
• 2+ years of hands-on automotive experience
• Strong understanding of engines and engine mechanics
• Ability to explain, in depth, how engines work and how to tear down and reassemble
• Passion for hands-on automotive engine work
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Dyno testing experience
• Degree from UNOH
• Vehicle tuning experience
• Emissions testing experience
