Job Description

Leads cross-functional groups in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements or accounting research related to financial statement presentation and disclosures
Works directly with external auditors on resolving emerging accounting issues and reporting matters
Facilitates and implements process improvements
External Reporting specific
Coordinates the preparation of external financial reports in compliance with SEC and other regulatory reporting requirements
Prepares and reviews drafts of financial statements, footnotes, and managements discussion and analysis

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or business related field
7 years of experience in auditing, financial accounting and/or financial reporting
2+ years of experience working in public accounting (the big 4 or other public accounting firms. Ex. Ernst & Young, KPMG, Deloitte, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Plante Moran etc. )
Experience with external reporting, preparing external financial reports
Comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and SEC reporting requirements to ensure the Companys compliance in external reports
Experience in the application of a broad range of technical accounting and reporting requirements
Balances multiple demands from superiors, and/or subordinates & peers in a positive and evenhanded fashion; displays a calm demeanor under pressure
Motivates through 'leaing by example,' coaching/mentoring and providing ongoing constructive feedback to subordinate staff; competent in systematically eliciting the best efforts and results from subordinate staff
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to organize work independently and to work in teams. Ability to coordinate cross functional teams and projects
Computer skills including experience with Microsoft Office suite
Communicates well with others, including proficient verbal, nonverbal, and written skills

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

1 year of informal leadership or project-based leadership preferred, but not required
MBA
CPA or five years of experience in public accounting
Experience with SAP (Systems, Applications, and Products)
Continuous improvement and process improvement experience
Experience in the energy industry
Experience with the Workiva Wdesk reporting platform
