Job Description
The Accounting Technician performs a variety of technical accounting duties involving the preparation, maintenance, and review of financial records, reports, and documents. This position supports the financial operations by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions in compliance with county policies and applicable laws.
Prepare and process invoices, vouchers, journal entries, and purchase orders.
Reconcile bank statements and general ledger accounts.
Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for audits and reporting.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports, budgets, and grant documentation.
Monitor expenditures and revenues for assigned departments or programs.
Respond to inquiries from internal departments and external vendors.
Ensure compliance with county, state, and federal financial regulations.
Use accounting software and systems to input and retrieve financial data.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience
Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Two (2) years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or financial recordkeeping.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., MUNIS, SAP, QuickBooks).
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of governmental accounting principles is a plus.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred
10+ years of experience in governmental accounting
