Directional Drill Locator

Insight Global is seeking a versatile HDD Directional Drill Locator to support FTTH and fiber construction projects. This hybrid field role is ideal for someone experienced in directional drilling support, locating, and general fiber construction who thrives in a hands‑on, outdoor work environment. You’ll work closely with a dedicated drill crew, serving as the Locator or Laborer during HDD operations while also assisting with essential job‑site tasks such as potholing, fiber installation, and equipment handling. This is a long‑term opportunity offering steady local work, a safety‑first culture, and room to grow into advanced roles within the company.

Each day, you’ll work directly alongside the HDD Operator to support drilling operations, track bore paths, and ensure safe and accurate locates. You’ll read and interpret utility maps, prints, and as‑builts, communicating real‑time depth changes, hazards, and progress to keep the crew aligned and the job moving efficiently. When not actively locating, you’ll assist with potholing, trenching, hand digging, and remediation work, as well as installing fiber, conduit, hand holes, vaults, pedestals, and enclosures. You’ll help load, unload, and organize tools and materials, maintain a clean and safe job site, complete daily documentation, and follow all OSHA and company safety procedures. This role is hands‑on, physically active, and essential to the success of each project.

- 1–3+ years of experience in FTTH, fiber optic, telecom construction, or HDD support
- Familiarity with underground utilities and job site safety practices
- Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and construction plans
- Strong communication skills and attention to detail
- Team‑oriented, dependable, and committed to safety
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English for safety and job‑site communication
- Valid Driver’s License

- HDD locating experience (urban environments a strong plus)
- CDL Class A
- OSHA 10 Certification
