Job Description

Insight global is seeking a Powertrain Design & Evaluation Engineer (PDE) to work onsite for a client in Ann Arbor, MI. Candidate should be highly motivated Engineers with an interest in EV Charging system and HEMS (Home energy management system) design. HEMS products consist of Uni- directional charger, Bi-directional charger, V2H (Vehicle to home) unit, V2G (vehicle to grid) unit, and Inverter. The primary role and responsibilities will include:
· Benchmark and learn the current products in the market.
· Understand and learn the design and safety requirements for these products.
· Develop an understanding of CPSC (Consumer product safety compliance), regulatory and compliance requirements (IEC, SAE, UL).
· Develop Specification for HEMS products with key safety requirements.
· Coordinate all related development activities including development gates, schedule negotiation and cost analysis activities (with Purchasing, Suppliers and SPAD) and up through validation and launch, including problem-solving technical issues.
· Partner with design engineers in Japan and in Local Suppliers for the design and development of system design.
· Participate in design, evaluation, and manufacturing activities at the event location locally and internationally (as necessary).
· Report weekly status to upper management and to related departments as needed per project needs.
· Power electronics design (Chargers, V2H, V2G, Inverters etc.) with suppliers and vehicle integration with affiliates and our client.
· Communicating effectively with management and Key Stakeholders.
· Ability to problem solve, issue drawings, Specification and interact with others in a fast-paced multicultural work environment.
· CAD skills (CATIA V5).
· Using your knowledge of the Design Process and Standards, outputting typical design team deliverables such as 3D models, 2D drawings, technical reports, and instruction sheets.
· Attending routine Design Reviews and reporting key metrics of your design such as durability, performance, cost, and mass versus design targets.
· Building relationships with key stakeholders (such as SPAD, EVCS, Z, TMC, Powertrain design, purchasing and Suppliers).
· Benchmarking similar designs to ensure our competitiveness.

Required Skills & Experience

Requirements:
· 2+ years in automotive design/development.
· Bachelor of Science (or above) with an Electrical/Electronic Engineering major.
· Demonstrable CAD skills and a strong understanding of electrical circuits and GD&T.
· A working knowledge of DRBFM, DFMEA, FTA and LT-SPICE.
· Proficiency with Excel and PowerPoint.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with Key Stakeholders.
Willingness to travel domestically and internationally by up to 20%.
