Job Description

This Principal Engineer will serve as a senior technical leader responsible for designing, analyzing, and optimizing next‑generation motor systems used across advanced consumer products. They will drive end‑to‑end motor development while partnering cross‑functionally with mechanical, electrical, firmware, and supplier teams to deliver breakthrough performance, efficiency, and reliability.

Required Skills & Experience

10–15+ years specialized in motor design (BLDC, universal, switched reluctance).
Strong 3D CAD capability.
Controls & firmware understanding, including commutation algorithms and drive efficiency.
Background in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
Ability to read and interpret schematics.
Experience with supply chain collaboration & authored reporting.
Applications engineering exposure (customer‑facing technical work prior to full engineering engagement).
Hands-on experience with:
Electromagnetic & electromechanical analysis
FEA tools (Maxwell, JMAG, Motor‑CAD)
Rotor/stator design & torque ripple optimization
Stamping, winding, potting, balancing
Strong understanding of power conversion, inverter systems, and control principles.
Airflow/fluid‑dynamics experience (fans, blowers, suction systems) is a major plus.


Core Responsibilities
Lead the design and development of advanced motor architectures from concept through production.
Run detailed electromagnetic modeling and electromechanical simulations.
Set and validate performance targets: torque, speed, NVH, efficiency, thermal behavior.
Partner with controls/firmware teams to optimize performance algorithms.
Oversee material selection (laminations, magnets, windings, insulation systems).
Drive DFM and supplier alignment for production‑ready solutions.
Collaborate with airflow and mechanical teams where fluid dynamics interact with motor behavior.
Support long‑term technology roadmap and mentor engineering talent.

B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering required
M.S. or Ph.D. preferred (electromagnetics/motor systems focus)
