Job Description

The Project Engineer (Civil) plays a key role in the planning, design, and delivery of civil and infrastructure projects within a multidisciplinary consulting environment. This position supports project managers and senior engineers in executing projects from concept through construction, ensuring that technical, financial, and schedule objectives are met. The Project Engineer is responsible for coordinating design tasks, conducting analyses, preparing engineering drawings and specifications, and assisting in client communications and project documentation.

Working within an engineering consulting firm, the Project Engineer collaborates closely with internal teams, subconsultants, and clients to provide innovative, sustainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions. The role requires a solid understanding of civil engineering principles and practices, including site development, grading and drainage, utilities, roadway and transportation systems, and water resources.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform detailed civil design for residential, commercial, and industrial site development projects, including grading, drainage, roadway alignment, and utility layouts. Prepare engineering drawings, technical reports, and construction documents in accordance with project requirements and applicable standards.
Support land development and site improvement projects by conducting site feasibility analyses, preparing conceptual site layouts, and developing grading and drainage plans that balance project goals, environmental considerations, and regulatory compliance.
Design and coordinate on-site and off-site improvements for water, wastewater, and stormwater systems. Develop calculations, cost estimates, and design documentation to support permit applications and construction packages.
Integrate sustainable design principles and climate adaptation strategies into projects, including green infrastructure, low-impact development (LID), stormwater quality improvements, and resiliency measures.

Required Skills & Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with 5-10 years of experience.
- Site design experience includes site grading, stormwater and utility design.
- Strong AutoCAD, Civil 3D skills and experience with HydroCAD and StormCAD.
- Ability to meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Active and clear driver’s license, including a successful clearance of a Motor Vehicle history check.
