Job Description

The Distribution Network Services Engineer will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of network infrastructure supporting a federal base in Lexington, MA. This includes fiber optics, copper cabling, AC power systems, and structured cabling. The role is 100% onsite and requires an active Secret clearance due to the sensitive nature of the environment.

The ideal candidate will be looking for an hourly range of $50-60/hr

Key Responsibilities
- Install, terminate, and test fiber optic and copper cabling (Cat5e, Cat6, coaxial, twisted pair)
- Deploy and maintain AC power systems, including UPS units and proper grounding
- Support base infrastructure for voice, data, and video services across secure networks
- Perform cable splicing, OTDR testing, and certification of fiber links
- Maintain and update network documentation, including cable maps and power layouts
- Collaborate with federal IT teams and contractors to ensure compliance with DoD standards
- Ensure all work aligns with NEC, ANSI/TIA/EIA, and federal safety regulations
- Respond to onsite service requests and perform preventive maintenance

Required Skills & Experience

- Associate or Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or related field
- 3–5 years of experience in network infrastructure, preferably in federal or military settings
- Active Secret Clearance
- Experience running and terminating fiber and copper cabling
- Familiarity with AC power distribution, load balancing, and electrical safety
- Proficiency with network hardware: patch panels, switches, routers, media converters
- Skilled in using test equipment: OTDR, fusion splicer, multimeter, cable certifiers
