Senior Technical Lead

One of Insight Global’s leading Insurance clients is seeking a Senior Technical Lead to join its team in Boston. This role is designed for a Technical Lead, Architect, or Principal Engineer who wants to remain deeply engaged in back-end application design and technical leadership, while taking on light people management responsibilities (~20%).
The majority of this role (~80%) will focus on hands-on technical leadership—including system design, architecture decisions, code reviews, and mentoring senior engineers—rather than traditional people management. The ideal candidate is someone who thrives as a technical authority, enjoys guiding and enabling other engineers, and can influence engineering direction without stepping away from the technology.
You will work closely with Product, Architecture, and other engineering leaders to design and deliver scalable, cloud‑native, back-end systems that support a high‑traffic, customer‑facing digital platform. This role is well-suited for someone who has operated as a senior individual contributor or technical lead and is comfortable balancing delivery, design, and mentorship with limited managerial oversight.
Compensationn: $80–96/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

12+ years of experience in software engineering
Strong background as a Technical Lead, Architect, or Principal Engineer
Deep experience building back-end, enterprise-scale applications
Strong hands-on experience with Java or C#
Proven expertise in cloud-native architectures (AWS or similar)
Hands-on experience with microservices and event-driven systems
Strong understanding of modern back-end development practices
Familiarity with Agile development environments
Experience mentoring and working along side 5 other engineers

Experience in Property & Casualty or commercial insurance
Strong hands-on experience with Golang
Exposure to DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and observability tooling
Experience supporting production systems in a high-availability environment
Knowledge of security, compliance, and regulated enterprise environments
