Job Description
Our client is a global law firm and recognized leader in AI and legal innovation, leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance legal services, improve client outcomes, and drive operational efficiency. AI is embedded throughout the firm in a secure, responsible, and human-centered manner, serving to augment expertise rather than replace it. The firm advises many of the world's leading technology companies on AI, data privacy, model governance, and commercialization matters, and has invested heavily in AI-powered products, tools, and platforms that deliver tangible business value. Their commitment to innovation has positioned them at the forefront of AI adoption within the legal industry.
Our client is building a new AI-focused software development organization responsible for developing a portfolio of internal applications, including AI-powered products and agents, financial and business applications, internal generative AI platforms, and cloud-native solutions hosted in AWS. Development is organized into small, highly collaborative cross-functional pods consisting of Principal Engineers/Architects, Software Developers, Product Managers, and dedicated QA Engineers. A key aspect of the model is that QA is embedded directly within each development pod, partnering closely with engineering and product teams throughout the software lifecycle rather than operating as a centralized testing function. The organization is focused on delivering scalable, AI-enabled solutions while fostering strong collaboration, shared ownership of quality, and rapid innovation. They are building the next generation of custom agentic applications to support "the business of law" services through the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
We are seeking strong QA Engineers to join the development pods, focused on end to end testing but more heavily weighted to backend. The Senior Quality Assurance Engineers contribute to the delivery of our client's AI-enabled software development initiatives by ensuring software quality, reliability, and production readiness across web, cloud, and enterprise applications. These engineers will be responsible for end to end testing, lead testing strategy, test planning, execution, defect management, and release validation activities while working closely with Product Owners and Software Developers within Agile delivery pods. The role combines traditional quality engineering practices with modern automation and AI-assisted testing approaches to improve software quality and delivery outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
· End-to-end QA lifecycle ownership
· Functional, regression, integration, and API testing
· Test automation frameworks
· Azure DevOps, Jira, and Agile/Scrum experience
· CI/CD and release validation
· Cloud application testing
· AI-assisted testing and exposure to AI applications
· Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies, test plans, and test cases for software development initiatives.
· Perform functional, regression, integration, and end-to-end testing across applications and platforms.
· Identify, document, track, and validate defects while partnering with development teams to drive resolution.
· Collaborate closely with Product Owners and Developers to ensure requirements are testable and acceptance criteria are clearly defined.
· Support release readiness reviews, deployment validation, and production support activities.
· Produce quality metrics, test execution reports, defect trend analysis, and delivery quality insights.
· Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, reviews, and retrospectives.
· Leverage automation and AI-assisted testing tools to improve testing efficiency and coverage.
· Lead quality best practices, mentor team members, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across delivery teams.
The Engineers will work within Agile development pods supported by DevOps, SRE, Enterprise Architecture, and Product teams. The environment operates like a startup backed by a $2.5B global law firm, providing the opportunity to build enterprise-scale AI products with real business impact. The client has a robust AI strategy in place and hundreds of use cases they need to address, for example one of the team's initiatives is to create an AI-powered billing compliance platform designed to address approximately 6% revenue leakage by analyzing billing records, contract guidelines, and unstructured data to identify inefficiencies and provide actionable insights through a conversational AI interface. This is not an AI research role. It is a software engineering role focused on building and deploying real-world AI applications in AWS using modern engineering best practices.
This opportunity is a yearlong contract with long-term extensions and ability to convert fulltime. The role can sit fully remote, but preferred to be by an office location: Boston MA, NYC, Palo Alto CA, Chicago IL, Denver CO, LA, Miami FL, Reston VA, San Diego CA, San Francisco CA, Santa Monica CA, Seattle WA, or Washington DC. There is a chance of conversion to full-time down the line and require 4x a month onsite, for rare occasions fully remote may be approved.
Key Responsibilities
Compensation:

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, skills, experience, and education.
