Job Description

An employer is looking for a Principal DevOps Engineer to build and evolve the technical foundation for secure, reliable software delivery across the company'sAWS-based, multi-tenant SaaS microservices platform. They’ll be hands-on creating and maintaining Terraform codebases (modules, standards, and reusable patterns) that enable consistent infrastructure provisioning, scaling, and governance across environments. They will design, implement, and continuously improve GitHub-centric CI/CD and GitOps workflows to increase deployment speed and safety while reducing operational toil for product engineering teams. The role will partner closely with senior engineers, architects, security, and IT to troubleshoot complex production and delivery issues, driving root-cause fixes rather than workarounds. They’ll help define and implement observability and SRE-aligned practices—monitoring, alerting, incident learnings, and reliability improvements—while ensuring controls and auditability are built into delivery pipelines. They will contribute to cost optimization in AWS by improving architectural patterns, automation, and usage visibility rather than relying on one-off cleanup efforts. Finally, they’ll regularly engage with senior stakeholders to propose and defend technical solutions, align on tradeoffs, and drive platform improvements from concept through execution.
Compensation for this role is 155-165k per year annually plus bonus. Compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role may include generous paid time off, medical and dental insurance offerings, and 401k.

Required Skills & Experience

-Principal-level, hands-on expertise designing and implementing enterprise CI/CD + GitHub-centric delivery for cloud-native, microservices-based SaaS (multi-tenant experience strongly preferred).
-Deep, current hands-on AWS experience with the ability to architect and build secure, scalable patterns (networking, IAM, compute, storage, logging/monitoring) in production.
-Advanced Infrastructure-as-Code mastery—Terraform (modules, state strategy, environments, policy guardrails, DRY patterns), plus automation/scripting to operationalize standards.
-Strong GitOps orientation with proven ability to design repeatable deployment patterns, environment promotion strategies, and safe release mechanisms (progressive delivery, rollback, blast-radius control).
-Security-first engineering mindset: demonstrable experience embedding shift-left security and governance into pipelines and IaC (SOC 2 or similar compliance exposure is a major plus).
-Executive/senior-team presence: able to lead technical problem-solving across org boundaries, influence architecture decisions, and drive outcomes through credibility and clear communication (without needing direct reports).
