Forward Deployed Engineer

A Private Equity firm who owns over 100 SaaS companies is hiring multiple roles for their AI consulting team. This team will be in charge of doing AI Advisory and consulting work for each SaaS company that they own to help with their AI transformation.

Overview
We’re seeking a full-stack Software Engineer to serve as a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), acting as the bridge between our AI Modernization team and application development teams. This role focuses on modernizing applications, driving adoption of AI-assisted development practices, and upskilling engineers. It’s a hands-on, high-impact position requiring strong technical expertise and the ability to influence teams.

Key Responsibilities
Application Modernization: Embed with teams to lead modernization efforts, including cloud migration and microservices adoption on AWS.
AI Adoption: Promote and implement AI-assisted development tools and workflows within teams.
Consulting & Change Management: Identify technical/process challenges and drive improvements while building strong team relationships.
Hands-on Development: Contribute code, build CI/CD pipelines, implement infrastructure (Terraform), and solve complex issues.
Feedback & Improvement: Share insights with leadership to refine tools, processes, and best practices.
Standards & Quality: Ensure adherence to engineering standards, DevSecOps practices, and high-quality code.

Compensation for this role is $175k with bonuses and some flexibility based on prior experience.

5+ years of software engineering experience, including application modernization
Strong full-stack development skills (e.g., Python, TypeScript, Java, C#)
Experience building and deploying applications on AWS
Strong change management and consulting background
Proficiency with Terraform and cloud-native architectures
Experience with CI/CD and DevSecOps practices
1+ year using AI coding tools (e.g., Cursor, Claude Code)

Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or serverless (AWS Lambda)
Experience with React, Next.js, or similar frameworks
SaaS consulting
