Our client is leading global Private Equity & Investment Firm seeking a highly motivated expert within Accounting Policy & Strategy to join at the Principal or Director level, dependent on experience.
This position will provide technical and strategic support to the asset side, specifically the Insurance pillar of the firm. The ideal candidate will have a background in Accounting Policy within Insurance or Asset Management. The role offers the unique opportunity to interact frequently with executives in the Office of the CFO, Office of the CEO, Deal Team, and Legal department to advise on accounting policies and support strategic financial initiatives.
The firm consistently pursues complex, bespoke, and exotic transactions with impacts across GAAP and statutory reporting. Volume is high and expected to grow. This requires a creative thinker who thrives in a fast pace and can consistently innovate on their approach quarter over quarter.
While the role is heavily focused on technical accounting and requires deep knowledge in GAAP standards, the organization has successfully implemented AI tools to help prepare memos and update accounting policies. This frees up significant time for the team and this role to primarily focus on critical thinking, research, and strategic meetings to understand transactions and advise on the firm's accounting policy and strategy accordingly. The ideal candidate will be comfortable embracing new technologies to drive efficiencies across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
• Technical Accounting Policy Development & Oversight
- Lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of global accounting policies in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS.
- Monitor changes in accounting standards and assess their impact on the firm’s financial initiatives.
- Leverage company AI tools for documentation and memo preparation.
• Strategic Advisory
- Partner with senior finance leaders and business units to evaluate the accounting implications of new transactions and strategic initiatives.
- Provide technical accounting guidance on complex areas such as consolidation, revenue recognition, fair value measurement, and financial instruments.
• Governance and Compliance
- Serve as a key liaison between external auditors to ensure compliance and alignment on complex accounting policies and challenges.

• Ability to create connection with the Front Office and Executives across the Business and Finance organizations.
• Ability to effectively communicate, gather information, and execute independently.
• Quality of advice balanced with risk and commercial considerations.
• Ability to create consensus across functions and external auditors.

Required Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in technical accounting policy development and advisory roles.
• Prior experience within one of the following environments:
- Accounting policy department within an Insurance firm
- Accounting policy department within the Asset Management division of a Financial Services firm
• Deep knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• CPA or CFA.
• Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
• Current experience within an Insurance company.
