Job Description

Our client is a full-service mechanical contractor specializing in commercial and industrial HVAC, plumbing, refrigeration, and electrical systems, providing a single-source solution for complex infrastructure needs. They are known for delivering high-quality installation, maintenance, and retrofit services while partnering closely with clients to ensure critical building systems operate efficiently and reliably over the long term.
The team is seeking a Senior Estimator (Mechanical & Plumbing) to support preconstruction efforts across commercial, government, healthcare, pharma, and data center projects. This is a high-impact role with a clear path to leadership, where you will not only lead estimating efforts but also help shape the future of the preconstruction function as the organization continues to scale toward a more enterprise-level MEP operation.

• Lead mechanical (60% of business) and plumbing (40%) estimating efforts (no sheet metal scope)
• Perform full-cycle estimating:
o Takeoffs (digital preferred)
o Vendor and subcontractor coordination
o Proposal development and submission
• Manage and participate in bid reviews and strategy sessions
• Build and maintain strong client and vendor relationships
• Lead negotiations and support business development efforts
• Transition awarded projects to the Project Management team
• Maintain ongoing client engagement throughout lifecycle
• Utilize estimating software (e.g., Trimble) for digital takeoffs and bid development
• Review and interpret blueprints, specifications, and bid documents
• Oversee subcontractor engagement through platforms like Building Connected
• Support and mentor junior estimators; potential to lead the estimating department

$150,000 to $200,000- Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of MEP estimating experience
• Strong experience estimating full mechanical and plumbing scopes, including:
o HVAC equipment
o Plumbing systems
o Hydronic and refrigerant piping systems
• Experience managing or mentoring at least one estimator
• Proven ability to lead estimating efforts from bid through project handoff
• Strong client-facing experience:
o Relationship building
o Vendor and subcontractor negotiations
• Proficiency in digital takeoff/estimating software (Trimble or similar)
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical specifications
• Experience leading bid reviews
• Clean criminal background (required)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Prior Project Management experience
• Experience helping evolve estimating processes or building preconstruction functions
• Exposure to prefabrication or innovative construction methods
