Job Description
Medical coding is the transformation of healthcare diagnosis, procedures, medical services, and equipment into universal medical alphanumeric codes. A medical coder is responsible for assigning the correct code to describe the type of service a patient received.
Essential duties & responsibilities
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
Familiarity with ICD-10 codes and procedures
Ensure codes are accurate, active and sequenced correctly in accordance with insurance guidelines.
Research for information in cases where the coding is complex or unusual.
Review the patient history for appending global modifiers.
Follow HIPAA guidelines and keep patients PHI intact.
Commitment to high level of customer service
Active participation in team discussions.
$2/hr to $3/hr
Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience
-Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, preferably from life science background.
- Good English communication (reading, writing)
- Understanding of US healthcare, HIPAA
- Good at MS Office
Professionalism, confidentiality, and organization
- Experience in using RCM Software
-Capable of task execution based on work instructions
-Medical coding/denial experience for 0-1 years of industry experience in the relevant function
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Certification in Medical coding from AAPC or AHIMA. (CPC, CGSC, COC etc)
