Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Stationary Engineer for a top government services client supporting a critical facility in Gaithersburg, MD. This individual will be responsible for operating and maintaining complex mechanical systems within a Central Utility Plant, including boilers, chillers, cooling towers, and associated equipment. The engineer will work rotating 12-hour shifts alongside a skilled operations team, respond to emergency situations, perform preventative and corrective maintenance, and ensure accurate system logging and reporting. This is a hands-on, mission-critical role ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in a structured, high-reliability environment.

Monitor and operate systems within the Central Utility Plant
Start up, shut down, and monitor boilers and chillers
Perform rounds, take system readings, and maintain detailed operating logs
Respond to service requests from the Customer’s Representative
Perform and oversee corrective, routine, and preventative maintenance
Respond immediately to emergency system issues and initiate emergency procedures
Coordinate with Chief Engineer and shift team (3–4 engineers/mechanics)
Track and manage spare parts, tools, and maintenance documentation

Required Skills & Experience

Current Maryland 1st Class Stationary Engineer License
EPA Universal (CFC) Certification
5+ years experience as a Stationary Engineer
Hands-on experience with:

High-pressure steam boilers
Chillers
Cooling towers
VAV systems
RTUs
Replacing pumps and motors


Strong troubleshooting experience with large mechanical systems
Ability to work 12-hour rotating shifts, including nights and weekends
Eligible for Public Trust clearance
