Job Description

Insight Global is hiring for a Structural Engineer to join our top client, a leading homebuilder, in Frederick, MD. We are looking for someone who has either an EIT or PE license to join a growing engineering team within a larger 120 person Architectural Services division. Our goal is to hire someone who would like to continue growing their Structural Engineering career by elevating their licensure, taking on opportunities for promotion, and help be responsible for submitting engineering plans and drawings. Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and review engineering and related documentation to ensure compliance with legal and other regulatory requirements. Specific tasks include Load development plans, gravity load design, lateral load design and reviewing residential designs for structural code compliance. Seal and/or approve as possible if you already have your PE License.
- Maintain assigned portion of the project schedule and record accurate hours worked on each project.
- Collaborate with Architectural Project Coordinators to maintain adherence to project schedules. Collaborate with other team members regarding project components to support project completion and low idle time.
- Deliver high-level expertise related to guidelines, standards, and best practices.
- Independently apply engineering concepts and designs to ensure assigned functions on each project are accurate without major changes required to correct structure, design, or established procedures and guidelines.
- Participate in discussions, provide recommendations, and develop solutions with Homebuilding, Manufacturing, Procurement, and other department personnel as needed, including conversations ranging from addressing field repairs to clarifying appropriate construction methods to inspectors.
- Consult with experts in different areas including structural and mechanical engineers, architects, estimating analysts, building code officials, truss engineers, and IT to ensure documents are complete and accurate.

The compensation level for this position is between $75,000 and $130,000 depending on experience and licensure.

Required Skills & Experience

- Possess either an EIT, a Professional Engineering (PE) license, or Structural Engineering (SE) license in at least one state.
- 3+ years of experience in roles involving Structural Engineering for Residential or Commercial designs.
- Experience with any structural design software, preferably any of the following: iStruct, Digital Canal, Tekla Tedds, etc.
- Ability to work with cross-discipline teams and help execute on deliverables across those different practices
- Desire to learn, grow, develop, and earn a promotion into a higher level position within the organization
- Ability to work onsite in Frederick, MD

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

- Design experience with residential homebuilding and light wood framed construction.
- 1+ years experience with AutoCAD.
- Experience planning and organizing the activities of others with demonstrated skill in follow-up and control.
- Experience leading, mentoring, and/or coaching junior team members preferred.
