Insight Global is seeking to hire a Systems Engineer in Columbia, MD to work for an international technology company that develops communication and information systems for air traffic management. The specific product line you will be supporting is their Digital Tower, which digitizes the air traffic control tower. This individual should have a strong background in hardware and software systems and will be configuring and commissioning commercially available IT and network components in a security- critical environment. Additional responsibilities include:
- Taking ownership of Engineering deliverables and their technical compliance and quality (design drawings, design reviews, system layouts, system configurations, etc.)
- Create sighting documents based on line-of-sight calculations for different camera positions at the airport
- Collaborate with FAA stakeholders
- Responsible for requirements, analysis, and deliverables

- 3-5 years of experience in a Systems Engineering role
- Experience working with digital and analog telecommunications systems (VoIP and radio systems)
- Broad IT (hardware and software) technology background
- Experience in line-of-sight calculations
- BS in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related
- Experience with the following technologies:
o Video technologies and protocols.
o Proficient in RHEL operating system. Knowledgeable in Windows operating system.
o Comprehensive experience with networks (Layer2 + Layer3) and ideally protocol knowledge (UDP, TCP, Multicast)
o System security management and intrusion detection tools (IdM, SSL, IPSec/VPN, SELinux, AIDE)
o Log aggregation and reporting (ELK/Opensearch, Splunk)
o Network analysis tools (Wireshark)
o Containers (Docker)
o System monitoring tools (Zabbix, SNMP)
o Virtualization (ESXi, KVM, Red Hat Virtualization)
o Data replication and storage (DBRD, NAS/SAN)
o SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB)
o Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g., Bash, PowerShell, Perl, Python).
- Certifications such as Red Hat Certified System Administrator etc. are an advantage.
- Experience supporting the FAA
