An employer is looking for a Remote Mental Health Care Advocate to join their team in the Maryland area. This person will be handling calls from Emergency Department providers seeking authorization for Mental Health services for patients actively in the respective Emergency Department. This means that this person must be comfortable with heavy communication over the phone for a vast majority of each shift handling those authorizations -- great personality is important! All candidates must have a Masters degree in a relevant field, hold an active LCPC or LCSW-C in the state of Maryland and have experience with the utilization review/authorization of services from a payer perspective.

Master's degree in Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or Marriage and Family Counseling
Current, unrestricted license to practice behavioral health treatment in the state of Maryland (LCPC, LCWS-C preferred)
2+ years of experience in behavioral health
Comfortable working and communicating with providers in inpatient emergency departments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs (e.g., Word, Outlook, Excel)
Direct practice experience in the Maryland Public Behavioral Health System
Knowledge of public resources throughout Maryland
Experience with Medicaid populations
Experience in treating people with Substance Use Disorders and/or those who are dually diagnosed with mental health and substance use disorders
Managed Care experience and/or experience working in an environment that required coordinating benefits and utilizing multiple groups and resources for patients
Bilingual Spanish
