Job Description

Insight Global is looking for a Medical Assistant for the Wound Care Center to perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support, providers, and keep office operations running smoothly.

Essential Job Duties:

1. Interviews, triages and prepares patient for provider examination by evaluating wounds for infection & other treatment complications, obtains accurate wound measurements
2. Able to obtain patient vital signs, updating patient medical, surgical, and family history, review of medications and properly document them in the patient's medical record.
3. Will be able to initiate and complete wound care procedures to include dressing changes, debridement, skin substitute therapies, suture removal, compression wrap therapy under the supervision of provider(s) and/or nurse(s).
4. Completes ongoing documentation of patient’s assessments, plan-of-care, patient education, and facility/supply charges
5. Education patient and caregivers on wound care practices and prevention strategies
6. Completes DME supply ordering forms & FMLA forms
7. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including, podiatry, infectious disease, endocrinology, and vascular medicine to promote efficient wound healing
8. Maintains equipment and medical supplies including, sufficient stocking, inventory management, expiration checks, cleaning and troubleshooting
9. Maintains Joint Commission requirements daily, routinely performs crash cart and eye wash station checks
10. Cleans all supplies, properly disposing in the appropriate medical waste bin, prepares instruments for re-sterilization by Central Sterile Processing Department
11. Demonstrates the R.I.S.E. values to improve the patient’s experience
12. Performs administrative or clerical duties as assigned including accurate scheduling & registration, Answers and screens office calls, greets patients in a professional and timely manner; projects proper telephone etiquette; understands when it is acceptable to release patient's protected health information.

Required Skills & Experience

-High School diploma or equivalent.
-One year of clerical/billing experience in a medical office setting.
-Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider CPR certification.
-BLS
-Wound Care experience or willing to work in Wound Care

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

-CMA, RMA or AAMA (through an approved/accredited organization).
-EPIC experience
-Experience with treatment of chronic wounds including the use of negative pressure wound therapy, exudate managing dressings, and compression wraps.
