Job Description
Insight Global is seeking 1 Insurance Refund Specialist to support the Patient Financials Team for a large healthcare system based out of Annapolis, MD. This person is required to be on-site three days a week and is required to perform the following duties:
- Work daily on patient credit queues, processing an average of 30 accounts per day, with potential spikes up to 100+ due to large payments.
- Ensure timely resolution of credit balances and maintain queue hygiene.
- Handle insurance overpayment requests received via email, mail, or fax.
- Prioritize daily processing of these requests and coordinate with insurance companies directly via email, fax, and phone.
- Collaborate with contracted vendors (e.g., Aetna, Cigna, BCBS) and non-contracted third-party payors.
- Primary vendor contact includes Cotivity for insurance credit handling.
- Process electronic and paper refund checks, document accounts, and complete required paperwork.
- Post credit card payments from companies and lockbox sources, ensuring lockbox rules are followed (e.g., no insurance or credit card payments posted from lockbox).
- Print and sort daily banking correspondence from patient and insurance lockboxes.
- Distribute documents to appropriate internal teams for further action.
- Work closely with a team of six, supporting shared goals and assisting peers as needed.

Required Skills & Experience
- At least 1 year of experience in hospital billing.
- Previous billing/accounts receivable systems experience.
- Strong communication skills.
