Job Description
We are seeking a Data Center Engineer to support secure, mission-driven environments. This role is ideal for a mid-level networking professional (3–5 years of experience) who thrives in hands-on environments and can serve as a key technical resource for a small user base.
This individual will work closely with government customers to deliver secure, compliant, and reliable network solutions in classified environments. A TS/SCI with Full-Scope Polygraph is required.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary networking resource for a facility supporting ~20–30 users
• Configure, deploy, and troubleshoot small-scale secure network infrastructure (not highly complex)
• Provide day-to-day support to end users, ensuring reliable connectivity and system performance
• Act as a bridge between end users and government support teams, clearly communicating issues and solutions
• Troubleshoot network and endpoint issues, including working through problems and effectively communicating root cause and resolution
• Support environments aligned to government accreditation frameworks (A&A) and compliance requirements
• Assist with implementation of security controls and network hardening practices in line with NIST standards

Required Skills & Experience
• Active TS/SCI with Full-Scope Polygraph
• DoD 8570 IAT Level III certification (or DoD 8140 equivalent)
• 3–5 years of networking experience, preferably in secure or government environments
• Strong foundational networking knowledge (CCNA-level preferred):
o IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and switching fundamentals
o Ability to troubleshoot basic to intermediate network connectivity issues
o Comfortable supporting small enterprise networks (not large/complex environments)
• Proven ability to analyze technical issues, understand root cause, and communicate effectively
Secondary / Supporting Skills
• Experience supporting Windows desktop environments, including:
o Basic system troubleshooting
o Supporting local configurations (especially in environments using thin clients)
• Ability to work through problems independently and clearly explain technical issues to non-technical users
• Familiarity with working in environments where network dependencies impact endpoint performance (e.g., Cisco-integrated setups)
• Ability to work onsite in Annapolis Junction, MD or Research Triangle Park, NC
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• CCNA certification
• Understanding of Assessment & Authorization (A&A) processes (formerly C&A)
• Familiarity with NIST 800-53 security controls and basic risk management concepts
• Exposure to STIGs and general network hardening practices (hands-on STIG implementation not required)
• Basic awareness of AWS, virtualization, or Linux environments (not a core requirement)
