Job Description
Insight Global is seeking a Senior‑Level FPGA Embedded Engineer to join a research and development team onsite in Aberdeen, MD. This role is joining a group focused on advanced cyber and electronic warfare capabilities. As an embedded electrical engineer with a focus on SoC/FPGA firmware, this individual will be hands‑on throughout the architecture, development, and verification phases of the system lifecycle. The engineer will contribute to the design and evolution of systems supporting modeling and simulation, digital signal processing, and digital communications concepts and applications.
The ideal candidate is motivated to help advance newly developed cyber and EW capabilities through the application of modern FPGA and embedded technologies. At the senior level, this role requires a strong, SME‑level understanding of these concepts, with the ability to directly impact the mission and share knowledge, concepts, and best practices with other engineers to support ongoing technical advancement. Engineers who are solution‑oriented and comfortable working in a flexible, research‑driven environment tend to thrive on this team.
$80hr to $100hr.

Required Skills & Experience
*15+ years of experience implementing firmware or software on embedded hardware systems
*Active Secret Security Clearence
*Hands‑on experience with FPGA‑based system design, development, and testing
*Experience with digital signal processing or digital RF concepts, such as sampling, modulation, error correction, or compression
*Proficiency in VHDL or Verilog programming
*Experience developing integrated solutions that leverage both the embedded processor and FPGA fabric of Xilinx SoC and RFSoC devices
*Familiarity with RTL and system‑level verification, including simulation, testbench development, and debugging
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
*Top Secret or SCI clearance
*Hands on experience with DMA blocks
*Experience with C, C++, and MATLAB
* Knowledge of Linux distributions, including RedHat and Rocky Linux
*Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related IT field
