Job Description

Day to Day:
Provide technical advice and guidance on installation, adaptation, configuration, or enhancement of technical products, programs, and systems
Provide expertise for resolving technical problems, troubleshoot product and modify product to customer requirements
Analyze engineering specifications and drawings, consult with quality and manufacturing to provide and obtain technical information
Investigate reports of defective, damaged, or malfunctioning parts, assemblies, equipment, or systems
Evaluate findings to formulate corrective actions
Independently plan and accomplish complete projects or serve as an expert in a narrow aspect of a particular field of engineering
Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories, and concepts in the field
Make analysis and development of documentation/reports
Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis
Perform preliminary analysis of data where guidelines are provided in such areas as quantitative judgments concerning technical data
Conduct briefings and participate in technical meetings for internal or external representatives concerning specifics operations or scheduling or specific phases of projects or contracts
Perform other related tasks as assigned

Required Skills & Experience

Must Haves:
Bachelors degree with 5 years related experience, Masters degree with 3 years related experience, or High School Diploma with 9+ years related experience
Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance
Background in basic and advanced electronics, mechanical drawing, engineering fundamentals, with a comprehensive knowledge of technical terminology
Systems understanding and interoperation
Ability to troubleshoot systems and fixtures
Use test specification programs and fixtures
Develop technical solutions to complex problems
Familiar with electrical, electronic, and electromechanical components
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Pluses:
Familiar with USPS maintenance operations
Background in Systems and Test Engineering
Business acumen and contract experience
Prior management experience in a union environment
