The Director of Quality is responsible for leading the development and implementation of quality management systems to ensure product quality and regulatory compliance in metal fabrication and manufacturing. This role oversees quality assurance and control processes, manages a team, and promotes a culture of continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Quality Leadership
- Develop and implement quality strategies aligned with company goals.
- Lead and mentor the quality team, including managers, inspectors, and technicians.
- Act as the main contact for quality-related matters with internal teams and customers.
- Quality Management System (QMS)
- Maintain and improve the QMS to meet ISO 9001, AISC, IECEx, and other relevant standards.
- Oversee internal audits, corrective actions, and management reviews.
- Ensure quality documentation is current and accessible.
- Inspection and Testing
- Supervise inspections at all production stages.
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of inspection tools.
- Collaborate with engineering and production to resolve quality issues and implement controls.
- Continuous Improvement
- Lead root cause analyses and implement corrective actions.
- Drive lean and Six Sigma initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Analyze quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
- Supplier Quality
- Establish and monitor supplier quality standards
- Conduct supplier audits and manage qualification processes.
- Work with procurement to address supplier issues and drive improvements.
- Customer Interaction
- Manage customer complaints and quality audits
- Ensure timely resolution of issues and communicate quality performance metrics.

- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in quality assurance within metal fabrication / manufacturing
- Types of applicable manufacturing: metal fabrication, plastics, automotive, aerospace
- 3+ years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of ISO 9001
