Leawood, KS. We are looking for an individual who is passionate about ownership and quality. This role involves leading technical work on EPC projects for switchyards and substations. Reporting to the Principal Substation Engineer, you will collaborate with our EPC team and clients to deliver high-quality results.
Position Responsibilities
- Execute the substation technical design on our projects and may also be the engineer of record
- Conduct or review engineering, design, and analysis tasks for substations or structural systems using current technology, industry standards, calculation software, templates, and cataloged products.
- Collaborate with the EPC team and clients to manage RFIs, review deliverables, process change orders, and handle engineering equipment buyouts.
- Regularly perform reviews of vendor documents to ensure specifications and data sheet requirements are met.
- Mentor and develop team members including technical guidance to others regarding projects and disciplines.
- Seek ways to improve customer satisfaction, the quality of the work product, and operating efficiencies.
- Help develop, review and implement guidelines and procedures to ensure engineering standardization and templating of our departments work.
- Stay up to date with the latest technology and industry practices and finds practical applications.
- Perform assigned work efficiently and effectively to maximize person productivity.
- Lead quality checks of the design and engineering of project to ensure accuracy.
- Establishes credibility in terms of technical competency and team leading ability

- Bachelors degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering
- 5+ years of experience doing the layouts and spacing of building materials in switchyards or substations within fossil fuels or power generation
