Job Description
Insight Global is looking to hire a Laboratory Assistant for a client of ours in the Des Moines, IA area. Below are general responsibilities. This individual will join the Microbiology department supporting food samples.
• Specific Assignments
○ Prepare test samples in accordance with standard operating procedure and applicable quality control procedures.
○ Assist other Lab Technicians & Bench Scientists with sample/waste disposal, dishwashing, washing & autoclaving reusable equipment, maintain sample inventory and consumable inventory, etc.
○ Complete pipette calibrations & verifications.
○ Follow all company guidelines and procedures relevant to assigned duties.
○ Adhere to all pertinent health, safety, and environmental regulations.
○ Maintain a safe and clean laboratory; clean work area and glassware used in analyses, dispose of hazardous wastes according to established procedures; assist others in maintaining a clean, safe work environment.
○ Maintain a perpetual state of readiness and willingness to respond to the queries and needs of clients, staff, and co-workers.
○ Recommend more accurate or efficient laboratory equipment or procedures.
Hourly rate for this position is $17.50.

Required Skills & Experience
• HS Education
• Basic knowledge of laboratory practices or willingness to be trained.
• Reliability, organization, and cleanliness.
• Ability to work on your feet for long hours at a time.
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Background experience in the manufacturing field, decon area, or a similar "process" driven field.
• Prior experience in a laboratory or processing environment is preferred but not required.
