Job Description

The Mortgage Loss Mitigation Specialist is responsible for managing all aspects of loss mitigation activities, including working with borrowers, investors, insurers, attorneys, and real estate agents to explore options such as debt repackaging and payment rescheduling to prevent foreclosures. The role involves making and receiving collection calls, sending notices related to mortgage collections and foreclosure, and providing borrowers with alternatives to foreclosure. The specialist handles daily and monthly reporting on delinquency, foreclosure, and loss mitigation activities for the bank and investors, as well as managing government mortgage insurance reporting. They process foreclosures in accordance with investor guidelines, coordinate with attorneys on bankruptcy and sheriff sales, and ensure proper status tracking using foreclosure systems. Additionally, they oversee the security and maintenance of foreclosure properties, order appraisals, and work with the liquidation teams and accounting to manage property sales and funds. The role requires compliance with all relevant policies, regulations, and investor guidelines, including FHA, VA, FNMA, GNMA, and Freddie Mac standards, and involves collaboration across various internal teams to ensure proper documentation, reporting, and adherence to legal and regulatory requirements. Regular attendance and completion of compliance training are essential components of the position.

Required Skills & Experience

1-3+ years of mortgage banking or banking experience
1-3+ years mortgage servicing experience
Ability to use Ice Mortgage Technology (formerly Black Knight), Lender X, MERS, Newcourse Communications, USDA.gov, Ginniemae.gov, FHA Connection/FHA Catalyst, Property 360, Yardi P260, Webgly/VA, HUD.gov.
