Insight Global is seeking a Construction Inspector to support transportation and infrastructure projects across Northeast Indiana for a top civil engineering and surveying client. This individual will serve as the onsite presence ensuring contractor compliance with INDOT and LPA standards, performing inspections, documentation, and materials testing. They will play a key role in monitoring quality, supporting project engineers, and maintaining accurate project records. This role offers strong growth potential as the team expands and begins securing more state and municipal construction work.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Perform daily onsite inspections for INDOT + LPA transportation projects
Monitor contractor work, materials, workmanship, and compliance
Read/interpret plans, specs, standard drawings, permits
Maintain INDOT-compliant field diaries, photos, quantity reports
Enter data into INDOT SiteManager
Perform or coordinate materials testing (soil, asphalt, concrete)
Inspect erosion control and SWPPP/MOT compliance
Communicate daily with contractors, engineers, INDOT staff, and PMs
Assist with RFIs, field issues, progress meetings, and project documentation
Support preparation of pay apps, change orders, summaries
May guide junior inspectors on some projects
Work hours may vary with construction schedule (early mornings, occasional nights/weekends, but currently minimal OT)
Travel within ~1 hour of Fort Wayne; company vehicle + credit card provided

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years Construction Inspector experience
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Strong reliability and professionalism with clients/contractors
Experience with:
Onsite daily inspections
Reading construction plans, specs, and standard drawings
Daily diaries, pay item quantities, photo documentation
Basic algebra + construction calculations
Comfortable working outdoors in all weather, on uneven terrain, lifting up to 50 lbs
Valid driver’s license
Willingness to obtain full INDOT Certified Technician credentials (all 6 tests)
Ability to follow written, verbal, and diagram instructions
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Existing INDOT certs (Soils, Asphalt, Concrete)
INDOT SiteManager experience
Experience with INDOT or LPA transportation projects
Materials testing (soil compaction, asphalt, concrete testing)
Coursework or degree in Civil Engineering / Construction Management
Experience leading or mentoring junior inspectors
