Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Survey Technician for a top engineering and environmental consulting client. This candidate will primarily work in an office-based capacity supporting IDOT District 1 projects by reviewing, processing, and validating survey data. The role focuses on quality control, legal descriptions, and ensuring compliance with surveying standards, rather than fieldwork. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in surveying principles, attention to detail, and some exposure to AutoCAD Civil 3D. Day-to-Day:
• Review and process survey data based on legal descriptions
• Perform QC on surveyor outputs to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Analyze and validate field data from survey teams
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and survey software to manage project data
• Convert and input survey data into systems (MS Office and internal tools)
• Support project deliverables through data review and documentation
• Ensure all survey practices align with legal and regulatory standards
• Coordinate with internal teams on IDOT District 1 project work

Required Skills & Experience

• Surveying background with understanding of field data and boundary surveys
• Familiarity with legal descriptions and real estate-related survey work
• Basic experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel basics)
• Strong attention to detail and quality control mindset
• Valid driver’s license with ability to travel locally across ~6 counties
• Ability and willingness to work primarily in an office-based role

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience working on IDOT or highway-related surveying projects
• Prior exposure to quality control (QC) processes for survey data
• Experience reviewing or preparing legal descriptions for boundary surveys
• Familiarity with survey data processing and documentation workflows
• Exposure to engineering consulting environments
