Job Description

Insight Global is seeking a Linux Cybersecurity Automation Engineer to join a collaborative team, onsite in Schaumburg, IL! This role sits within an internal cybersecurity lab supporting the development and enhancement of tools used to manage and streamline cybersecurity audits across Linux environments. This is a blended role (~65% development) across software engineering and systems engineering, with a strong emphasis on automation and scripting. The engineer will work primarily in a Linux-based environment, leveraging Python and Ansible to improve existing tools, support STIG-based audit processes, and help ensure systems are properly secured and maintained.

Day to Day:
• Enhance and maintain internal cybersecurity tools used for audit consolidation and reporting
• Develop and enhance automation using Python and Ansible
• Support Linux-based systems – scripting, configuration, and system-level tasks
• Integrate and operationalize DISA STIG requirements into tooling and processes
• Run and support vulnerability scans (ACAS/Nessus) and help track remediation efforts
• Partner with internal cybersecurity teams to align tooling with security requirements
• Customize tooling to support Linux environments used across the organization
• Contribute to feature enhancements and continuous improvement of existing platforms

Compensation:
$48hr to $60hr. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education. Benefit packages for this role will start on the 1st day of employment and include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as HSA, FSA, and DCFSA account options, and 401k retirement account access with employer matching. Required Skills & Experience

• Experience working in Linux environments (administration, engineering, or strong proficiency)
• Proficiency with Python scripting
• Hands-on experience with Ansible (playbooks, automation, configuration management)
• Exposure to cybersecurity practices (vulnerability scanning, patching, compliance, etc.)
• Understanding of DISA STIGs or similar security frameworks

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

• Experience with ACAS / Nessus or similar vulnerability scanning tools
• Background in cybersecurity engineering or compliance-focused roles
• Prior experience supporting DoD or federal environments
• Experience supporting internal platforms or tools, including exposure to product development, system workflows, and testing/validation processes within enterprise environments
• Background in telecommunications or large-scale system environments (e.g., Motorola, FirstNet, or similar), with familiarity across system development, testing, and operational integration
• Exposure to test automation, system validation, or performance tooling, particularly within Linux-based environments using Python scripting
