Becknell Industrial is seeking a Civil / Land Development Engineer to support land planning, design, entitlement, and permitting efforts for industrial real estate projects across the United States. Based out of our LaGrange, IL office, this role focuses on the technical execution, coordination, and oversight of site development activities from initial land evaluation through construction support.
This is a fast-paced, reactive environment supporting active real estate land acquisition and development. The engineer will respond to calls for land offers with quick turnaround times, support RFPs for build-to-suit projects, and participate in weekly leadership meetings to review new opportunities, ongoing projects, and deliverables.

Required Skills & Experience
5–15+ years of professional civil engineering experience
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (4-year accredited program)
AutoCAD and Civil 3D proficiency (required)
Strong background in land/site development for industrial or commercial projects
Hands-on experience with site planning, grading, stormwater management, and utility layout
Experience with code review, entitlement, and permitting processes
Proven ability to coordinate with architects, MEP teams, geotechnical engineers, and fire consultants
Ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and consultants simultaneously
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project (or similar scheduling tools), and Bluebeam
Strong communication, organizational, and project ownership skills
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience supporting nationwide or multi-state development projects
Background in industrial / warehouse distribution real estate development (large retail experience — Target, Sam's Club, Costco, etc. — also highly relevant)
Earthwork analysis tools: Carlson, SiteWorks, AGTEK, or similar
CRM / project management tools: Procore, Salesforce
Familiarity with online code and permitting databases
Experience with real estate documentation (title work, surveys, easements, RFPs, RFIs, specifications)
