Job Description
We are seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to support large‑scale distribution center (DC) operations, with a strong focus on labor management and physical automation design. This role partners closely with operations, engineering, and project teams to design, implement, and optimize DC processes and automation initiatives.
This is a hands‑on industrial engineering role—ideal for someone who has actively participated in automation design and installation in DC environments, but does not write PLC code or act as a controls engineer. The right candidate will help drive execution on high‑impact automation and footprint initiatives tied to major operational and financial outcomes.
Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities
-Support the design and rollout of physical automation within distribution centers
-Partner with operations to: define labor requirements, optimize workforce deployment, improve productivity and throughput
-Participate in automation design discussions, ensuring solutions align with operational needs
-Support automation installations and go‑lives, validating performance against expectations
-Analyze operational data to identify improvement opportunities
-Assist with facility footprint projects, including DC openings, expansions, and closures
-Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and vendors to keep initiatives on track
-Help ensure automation and process changes deliver measurable business value

Required Skills & Experience
-Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
-Proven experience as an Industrial Engineer in a Distribution Center or warehouse environment
-Strong background in Labor Management (LM): Labor standards, workforce modeling, productivity and performance measurement
-Hands‑on participation in DC automation projects, including: Automation design support, implementation and installation phases, collaboration with vendors and controls teams
-Experience supporting facility‑level projects (new builds, expansions, or closures)
-Ability to work on‑site and directly with operations and engineering teams
-Strong communication skills and comfort working in fast‑paced, execution‑driven environments
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
-Experience with any Labor Management system (Blue Yonder experience is a plus, but not required)
-Exposure to: DC layout design, material handling automation
-Lean / Six Sigma experience or certification
-Experience supporting change management during automation rollouts
-Background working on multiple concurrent projects in high‑volume environments
-Experience partnering with third‑party integrators or automation vendors
