Job Description
Translate business needs (e.g., risk management, claims, operations) into well-scoped data science solutions aligned to KPIs
Design, build, and deploy:
Machine learning models
Optimization models
NLP solutions for claims/incident analysis
Develop models to:
Predict incident escalation into claims
Classify claim severity and financial impact
Identify high-risk scenarios for proactive intervention
Perform data profiling, cleansing, and feature engineering across structured and unstructured datasets
Apply NLP techniques to extract insights from incident and claims narratives
Build record linkage solutions to connect disparate datasets
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Risk, Legal, Data Engineering, BI, Governance, MLOps)
Validate, monitor, and continuously improve model performance (drift, retraining, scoring quality)
Generate explainable outputs (risk drivers, model reasoning) for business stakeholders
Document models, assumptions, methodologies, and governance considerations
Present insights and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Stay current on advancements in AI/ML and integrate new approaches as appropriate
Mentor junior data scientists and contribute to team development

Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of experience in data science, machine learning, or operations research (2+ years with PhD)
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Industrial Engineering, or related field (PhD preferred)
Strong expertise in:
Operations Research modeling (LP, IP, MIP) using tools such as CPLEX or Gurobi
Machine learning (supervised, unsupervised, deep learning)
Feature engineering, model evaluation, and hyperparameter tuning
Advanced programming skills in Python, SQL, and Spark
Experience with ML frameworks (e.g., Scikit-Learn, XGBoost, TensorFlow, PyTorch)
Experience building and deploying models in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) with large datasets
Experience with streaming data architectures
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and DevOps/CI/CD concepts
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate cross-functionally
Experience with:
Data preparation, profiling, and modeling using structured and unstructured data
NLP/text processing for extracting insights from narratives
Model monitoring, validation, and performance tuning in production environments
Ability to ensure ethical, compliant use of data (PII, governance, transparency)
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
Experience in hospitality, travel, or service industry analytics use cases
Strong understanding of data architecture and MLOps best practices
Experience translating complex analytics into measurable business impact
Experience working with risk, claims, or incident data models
Knowledge of:
Record linkage methodologies (entity resolution without unique IDs)
Explainability techniques (model interpretability, business-readable outputs)
Passion for continuous learning and innovation in applied AI/ML
