Personalization at scale is key to our digital growth, spanning the entire guest journey—from acquisition to post-stay reactivation. Our vision is to deliver the most relevant products, offers, experiences and information across digital (web, app, email, paid media, social) and offline (front desk, concierge, direct mail, contact centers) channels to our guests using AI assisted decisioning and recommendations. This role supports the design, development, and operation of the Customer Data Platform; collaborating with engineering, IT, Digital, Data and Marketing teams to align architecture and integration strategies that activate personalized experiences across the hotel’s ecosystem.
The Customer Data Platform Lead Engineer works directly in CDP and within other parts of the MarTech stack to build and iterate on the single customer view to support business partners and downstream tools where customer data is used. The CDP Engineer is an expert in using, understanding, and acting on customer data. They use the CDP to unlock powerful insights from a wide range of data sources to inform ongoing company and marketing strategy.
Role & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with CDP Product Manager and business partners to understand the go-to-market process, customer lifecycle, and customer strategy, and how customer data and the Amperity CDP can enable success
• Develop customer analyses and use data to identify solutions to challenging customer problems (e.g. causes of customer churn, attributes of high-value customers, etc.)
• Build dashboards in BI tools for “always-on” customer trend monitoring
• Supporting the organization and business partners with the right source data, new data assets, and destination connections to drive internal reporting and/or marketing execution
• Lead analysis and reporting projects from start to finish, defining the necessary data, building a proof of concept in Sandbox, and deploying a new or updated data assets or attributes
• Identify and tackle issues concerning data management to improve data quality and availability
• Implement new automated recurring workflows, including automated ingest of new data source and/or egress of data into a downstream system while ensuring they are monitored and maintained
• Identify trends, opportunities that help drive and measure incremental growth
• Build scalable methodology and tools to accelerate CDP adoption
• Ensure compliance with data privacy requirements as it relates to data in the CDP

Required Skills & Experience
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a consulting, business analytics, or data science role.
• Understanding of and experience working with relational databases and ETL tools.
• Proficient in SQL, to build workflows, queries, and segments within the CDP. The ability to write SQL from scratch including multiple table joins, summarizing data using GROUP BY expressions and window functions is desired.
• Experience using computer languages (Python, R, PySpark, TypeScript, JavaScript etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large datasets
• Experience creating executive-level dashboards using visualization tools
• Can translate business use-cases (e.g. reporting needs and/or marketing execution needs) into necessary technical requirements
• Understanding internal data systems, architecture, and data structures patterns
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task across multiple streams of work.
• Direct experience with experimentation design and A/B test measurement
• Proactive, resilient, and resourceful when solving complex problems.
• Strong data analysis skills. Ability to dig into customer data and extract insights for stakeholders.
• Knowledge of Marketing Technology stack including CDPs
• Understanding of Change Management processes and methodologies
• Demonstrated ability to plan and execute repeatable analyses and recommend actionable strategy
• Strong communicator who easily bridges the gap between data and business owners
• Creative thinker, adept at imagining new business use cases and identifying the data necessary to make them a reality
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• BA/BS in Math, Computer Science, Economics, Statistics, or another quantitative field
• Ability to develop predictive models using a ML framework such as MLlib, H20 or scikit-learn a distinct plus
• Working with data in a AWS Environment and Toolsets is a plus
• Experience with the Amperity CDP is a plus
