Job Description
This insurance company is looking for an AI Process SME to join their newly established centralized AI team. You will work across broker, underwriting, and operations groups to identify opportunities for AI-driven process improvements, conduct process mapping and mining, and help define AI-native workflows. The role involves partnering closely with both business and AI engineering teams to translate operational needs into scalable AI solutions, beginning with prototyping in a sandbox environment and progressing to production implementation.
You’ll play a critical role in evaluating current workflows (claims, health data, submissions, etc.), redesigning them for automation, and ensuring compliance in a regulated environment. You’ll also contribute to change management, ensuring adoption of new AI-enabled processes across business units.
An excellent candidate blends strong insurance domain knowledge, process optimization expertise, and technical awareness of AI capabilities, with a proactive, communicative, and improvement-driven mindset.

Required Skills & Experience
• Strong experience in insurance operations (claims, underwriting, broker workflows)
• Proven experience in process mapping and process reengineering
• Tools such as Visio, BPMN frameworks, or process mining software
• Experience identifying automation opportunities within business processes
• Ability to translate business workflows into technical requirements for AI and engineering teams
• Understanding of AI capabilities and limitations (LLMs, automation, AI-driven workflows)
• Experience working in cross-functional environments (business + technical teams)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to gather requirements and drive alignment
• Experience estimating effort, feasibility, and business impact of process improvements
Familiarity with AI sandbox environments and prototyping workflows
Nice to Have Skills & Experience
• Experience with process mining tools and methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
• Experience with system integrations (APIs, enterprise platforms)
Background working in regulated environments (HIPAA, claims processing, confidential data)
