Job Description

The Accounting Specialist is to plan and oversee the accounting and purchasing tasks of the department. This includes negotiating contracts, assessing vendors, pricing, and quality to guarantee optimal success. The end goal is to establish and maintain a strong relationship with key suppliers to ensure the high quality of the product.

 Responsibilities:

The Accounting & Purchasing Specialist will oversee a combination of the day-to-day duties outlined below in addition to longer-term projects that will be identified on an ongoing basis to help improve the overall level of service to our customers.
Directly supervises department team.
Manage workforce to provide service that meets customer and business demands.
Interviews, hires, and trains employees; planning, assigning, and directing work.
Presents recommendations to management on short and long-term financial objectives and policies.
Manages the accounting staff who are responsible for financial reporting, billing, collections, payroll, and budget preparation.

Required Skills & Experience

Qualifications:

-Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
-1–4+ years of experience in accounting, with exposure to AP, AR, and general ledger functions
-Hands-on experience with accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, payment processing, and collections follow-up
-Strong knowledge of account reconciliation practices, including bank and credit card reconciliations
-Familiarity with payroll processing and expense tracking is a plus
