Job Description

One of Insight Globals major clients are seeking a mid-level Physical Substation Design Engineer to join their organization. Primary responsibility will be producing physical and structural designs of electrical power substations or transmission lines. Additional responsibilities include:

Independently develop complete physical or structural design packages for complex substation projects.
Develop contract documents used for the construction of the facilities.
Evaluate, select, and apply standard and unique design techniques, procedures, and criteria required for design, exercising judgment in making adaptations and modifications.
Coordinate the training of new design associates and conduct quality design reviews.
Conduct research, engineering studies, the evaluation and approval of materials, and design standards development.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelors degree in engineering (electrical or civil preferred)
3-6 years of experience in design of power distribution systems (preferably for utility scale substations and transmission lines)
Licensed EIT (Engineer in Training)
Microsoft Word and Excel, and AutoCAD
Must be able to pass a NERC CIP personnel risk assessment screening.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Prior experience supporting a utility/energy provider
Licensed PE (professional engineer)
