Job Description
Gwinnett County Public Schools, the largest school district in Georgia serving 143 schools, is seeking a motivated engineer to join their cloud team within the Technology & Innovation Division. The Cloud Infrastructure Engineer is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for the hands-on implementation, optimization, and security of the GCPS cloud ecosystem. This role serves as the technical lead for Azure and AWS environments, transforming business requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
Core Responsibilities
Technical Execution: Build, configure, and maintain cross-platform cloud infrastructure (Azure/AWS), ensuring seamless integration with existing on-premises and department-specific systems.
FinOps & Optimization: Perform deep-dive analysis of cloud consumption and billing to identify anomalies and implement technical cost-saving measures (right-sizing, reserved instances, etc.).
Technical Lead for Unified Services: Act as the primary technical interface for Microsoft Unified Services, translating support and engineering engagements into actionable infrastructure improvements.
Security Remediation: Directly remediate security findings and harden cloud environments in collaboration with Information Security, ensuring compliance with GCPS standards.
M365 Engineering: Execute tenant-wide configuration changes and lead technical initiatives for M365 services and unified communication tools.
Architectural Guidance: Provide hands-on technical strategy for new cloud migrations and the evolution of existing legacy implementations.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Serve as the Tier 3 technical escalation point for complex cloud incidents, leading root-cause analysis and performing hands-on resolution alongside vendor engineering teams.
